The Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy are deeply rooted in Catholic teaching, deeply connected to the Beatitudes that Jesus taught, and to his teaching that we shall be rewarded for feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, etc because they are him. I won't bore you with the official list minus elucidation. I write simply because I have heard a great lecture today by my friend, Catholic writer Mark Shea on this topic and to tell you that he has a book coming out from St. Anthony's press soon on the topic. watch for it. I will post more when we have a date.
